What are
the limitations?
Our fonts are simply "fonts".
You can't write melodies,
accompaniments,
or
orchestrations with our fonts.
There are already great music notation
programs available for that purpose.
Also, since it's ONLY a font, there wasn't room on the keyboard for
every single music symbol known to
man, so there are a lot of
less frequently used symbols which couldn't be included.
Examples
of symbols not included:
* Notes higher or lower than 2 ledger lines above or below
the staff.
* All C clefs. With
our new upgrade we now have a tenor clef
and a C clef not displayed on a staff. These 2 are added to our alto clef,
which we already had.
* Stems going down:
Our rhythmic values are only "stems up".
However,
with clever use of text boxes, you can "flip" & "rotate" text to get stems that go down.
* Trills. There are so many it would take almost
an entire keyboard just
for trills alone!
We apologize for all omissions which are basically "instrument specific".
Please understand that
we were limited by the number of keys
on the keyboard as to how many symbols we could include.
StaffWriter was created specifically
to make easier the basic theory needs
of everyday teaching,
from pre-school through college-- so, unless you
need to compose
actual musical examples or have special
symbol
needs, StaffWriter may be all you need.
